Lt. General Carlo Gagiano, Chief of the
South African Air Force
- in the cockpit of the aircraft that he led into battle over Angola in 1987
Lt General Gagiano was the formation leader that led the attack where this aircraft (tail number 206 flown by his wingman Arthur Piercy) was hit by a missile fired from a Mig23.
